It’s completely different from leather goods, yet still true to our philosophy of personalisation, slowing down, and our passion for detail in a world of mass production.
And, of course, always the desire to create meaningful, customised pieces by hand.
Embroidery is an old love. Now chainstitching on a vintage Cornely embroidery machine has become a new passion.
This machine creates chainstitch - a series of stitches made up of loops.
It’s hand-operated, non-digitised. The machine is controlled by a hand crank located under the table, and the turning motion of the right hand determines the outcome of the embroidery.
We’ve learned, and are still learning, the ins and outs of the craft and are now comfortable enough to “write” in Clinch’s own handwritten script.
We love using this old technique in a contemporary way by offering custom messages on blanc napkins.
It’s not just about the embroidery itself, like with all our products at Clinch, it’s the joy of seeing our creations bring happiness to others.
